[11 Sep 2006] Cyanobacterial Water Blooms: Effects, Consequences and Management Workshop, Brno, September 1-2, 2006.
This workshop, a satellite meeting of Fifth International Conference on Reservoir Limnology and Water Quality, was attended by about 100 persons from a wide range of disciplines. The workshop was organised and hosted by Drs. Blahos Marsalek, Ludek Blaha and colleagues of the Centre for Cyanobacteria and their Toxins, Brno, Czech Republic (www.cyanobacteria.net) and included 17 oral papers and 22 posters. Topics addressed included human health aspects, cyanotoxin detection and analysis, effects of cyantoxins on aquatic ecosysytems and exposed biota (animals, plants) and risk assessment and management of cyanobacterial blooms. The Workshop book of abstracts (ISBN 80-86188-24-8) is published by the Institute of Botany, Academy of Science of the Czech Republic, Pruhonice).
